August 6-9, 2015
Make plans to join progressive United Methodists united in love to find family, create community, break bread, share stories and mobilize for mission! Gather at the River is a partnership gathering of the Methodist Federation for Social Action and Reconciling Ministries Network. We will soon announce the line-up of spectacular worship and music leaders and inspirational preachers.
MFSA and RMN members and friends in the Southwest Texas Conference are preparing to provide extravagant hospitality for Gather at the River participants. Gather at the River will also include the participation of kindred groups in the Common Witness Coalition: Affirmation: United Methodists for LGBTQ Concerns, Love Prevails, United Methodist Association of with Disabilities, and others.
This huge event will be hosted at Travis Park UMC and the Sheraton Gunter Hotel in San Antonio. Still in the planning stages, be prepared for amazing worship and music, informative educational sessions on many social justice issues, and incredible opportunities for networking with progressive Christians from throughout the nation. I would like to attend. I have two questions: 1st. I need a roommate (female or male); 2nd. do I need to pay my housing at $139.00 per night beyond the three payments for Registration for an adult?

p.s. is there a cheaper way to attend if I come as a volunteer – ;like I did as a Page at General Conference 2012 in Florida?

Do you have any volunteer positions during the conference with housing and meals included?
I am interested in doing volunteer work to help with my costs.

Hi, Janey. You can request a roommate at the Gather at the River site http://www.gather2015.org/. Click on register and you can make your request there. The lodging is in addition to the registration fee. They have not said if we can get a reduced fee for volunteering. That would be helpful to a lot of us. Hope to meet you there.
