| The Unification Implementation Team (UIT) has unanimously claimed the name Río Texas for the bold new conference, a unification between the Southwest Texas and Rio Grande Conference. The team is also recommending that the Río Texas Conference be organized into six districts, to take effect in June 2014. On Sunday, May 19, 3:00pm at Saint John’s UMC, 2140 Allandale Rd., there will be an in-depth discussion of the unification proposal before Annual Conference in June. |
Because of the importance of the unification discussion, there will be no action taken on district business (nominations, budgets for either District Administration or the District Board of Missions). Plans are to hold a District Conference and Mission Board meeting in the fall of 2013 for regular action items and reports.
